I've been trying to get some valuable information that will enlighten my understanding towards the death of the "first-born" in Egypt. What I've come across with is that many, if not all, ancient cultures considered their first born to carry special responsibilitys and authority passed down from their father or government. And that the Egyptian priest were only "first-Born" males. In addition, they would inheret a double portion of their fathers belongings. They literally represented their fathers house. Second, that the Egyptians murdered all the new born males of the Hebrews and in return Elohim caused the massacre of the first born to the Egyptians, causing an unbalanced culture due to the deaths of the high ranked priests and security(maintenance). It seems reasonable, but I feel there's still more to it.
Anyone may have any additional information, to why Elohim striked the first born? I'm having a little trouble.
